Help Nancy bring hope to children and families featured in US News & World Report's 'Best Hospitals in America" edition (July 12, 2004).
St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, currently featured in US News & World Report, provides pediatric treatment for catastrophic illnesses while expecting no payment from patients and families.
Nancy shares her life experiences of battling a sixteen-year catastrophic, and at times, life-threatening illness with the children and families St. Jude's serves in Memphis, Tennessee.
A minimum of fifty copies of Suffering: The Treasures We Find, will be given to teenagers and families treated at the facility founded by Danny Thomas in 1962. The 58-bed hospital treats approximately 4,500 patients annually who suffer from catastrophic illnesses. Primary research efforts target molecular, genetic and chemical causes of cancers, acquired and inherited immunodeficiencies, and genetic disorders.
St. Jude covers all medical costs not covered by insurance and never asks payment from those without insurance. The charity-based medical facility also provides transportation, lodging and meals for one parent and child.
"For many years my heart has been with St. Jude's work. I have long awaited to contribute to this generous, selfless, cutting edge hospital. I don't know any medical facility more deserving than St. Jude's. And the continual, dramatic rise in cure rates that give children years of healthy life makes St. Jude's mission even more impressive. Every child deserves a chance at life. And every family deserves a chance at life with their child," states Nancy. "I want to be a part of their fight, as well as a part of their successes. I know what it's like to lose my freedom, be bedridden, find a clump of hair in my hand that never belonged there, lose my ability to eat, survive dangerous surgeries and face the premature reality of death.
The greatest gift I have to offer is my book. Each page resounds melodies of hope and encouragement. Additionally, practical solutions are offered to help those who struggle and suffer, all the while wondering why their worlds have turned upside down and God has seemingly abandoned them. I am so honored to share my message of finding light amidst the darkness, even when the worst is happening, with those who have been given unbelievably challenging circumstances. "
Books can be purchased NOW on our Product Page . You will receive a confirmation in the mail for all books ordered. As soon as 50 books are collected Nancy will deliver and sign the books, and further reach out to the families of St. Jude's by listening, sharing her life lessons, and showing her support in any way God leads to patients and families. "We must remember to care for those who are engaged in the biggest fights of their lives and show them Jesus with skin on skin!!"
Thank you for your gracious generosity in partnering with Nancy to make this "Missions Trip" possible.
